Design Experience

I am a senior designer who has amassed over 18 years’ graphic design experience as an in-house designer, freelancer and sole trader. I have worked on the creative, client facing and administration sides of the design business.

My diverse range of clients include global high end corporate and luxury brands, international NGOs, health and wellness, tourism and sports sectors and SMEs. These are based in Ireland, the UK, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Professional Progression

I thrive through continued learning and goal setting. I have a Masters in Design for Change (H1, 2022) and a Professional Diploma in User Experience Design (Distinction, 2020). My keen interest in psychology lead me to pursue an Advanced Diploma in Coaching (Distinction, 2019) and 200hr Yoga Teacher + Ayurveda Training (2018).

Interrupted by Cancer

I was living in New Zealand when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2017.

I returned to Ireland after my treatment and am a now Patient + Public Involvement (PPI) advocate.

Irish Association for Cancer Research (IACR)

I have been an IACR PPI member 2018. I was recently appointed IACR PPI Champion with a view to defining and growing the PPI agenda for the IACR. My role within the IACR has been to assist PhD students to effectively communicate their research to the non-scientific. I have also provided my design expertise and skills by designing the rebrand of the IACR. I currently oversee its conference/publication materials and website.

Irish Cancer Society

I have been a PPI reviewer on PhD/Post Doc funding applications, the annual PhD Lay Abstract awards and the €4m Collaborative Cancer Survivorship Research Centre Grant. I was recently awarded the Patient Advocate in Cancer Research Champion Award.

Breakthrough Cancer Research

I have assisted PhD students in their lay communications and given presentations on Information Graphic best practise. My story has been used campaigns to promote the celebration of survivors and their lives after cancer.

Volunteer Work

Given my love of the outdoors – especially hiking and camping – being a Scouter is a natural fit. I am an adult scout leader and secretary for the Lacken 21st Wicklow Scouts.

Kasingo School VSO Project, Ghana

In late 2008 I volunteered at the Kasingo School Project in Balgotanga, North Ghana. Our team worked solidly for one week on various projects which included preparing three classrooms in the new school block, constructing new classroom furniture and building the school playground.
